Many older audio recording media (such as vinyl records and 8-tracks) are no longer considered practical storage media for music and audio. Also, due to their age many recordings existing in those formats have become degraded by time and usage. Some businesses offer services to either repair the sound quality of these recordings or transfer the contents of the older media to new formats such as CD.
